I come to Lymington quite a lot and tend to moor up in and around the town quay. I rarely use the marinas.

It's a tad on the chilly side tonight so the ability to keep toasty warm with the reverse cycle air-con running throughout the night along with friends already staying there meant we found ourselves in Berthon marina for the first time in ages.

What a glorious selection of boats.

I've just had a wander around the pontoons and it was a real treat. Several Princess P50's which were clearly the jewels in the crown ;) within a who's who of desirable craft. Princess, Sealine and Windy were particularly well represented - not often you see so many of the latter in one place. Fleming, Hardy, Aquastar, some gorgeous big boats on the outside of the hammerheads who's makers escape me. Linsen were represented as was Fairline - currently next to a Fairline 68 flybridge. In fact everywhere you looked there was something special.

Unusually I would say more motor boats than sailing yachts which is very rare. You'll always see something of interest whilst walking the pontoon in a marina but Berthon really does tick all the boxes in style.

Henry :)

The marina managers an ugly overweight git though and it's fortunate the eclectic and interesting mix of boats can take a sailors mind off this significant fact.

Cheers, Brian.

I am one of the three Fairline Squadron 58 on E pontoon. True there is a lot of mobos but also a lot of large visiting sailing boats being serviced by Berthon, which is interesting when you hear the stories of where they have travelled from.

The marina manager is not too bad for a sailing boat owner.

Well that's news to me - Be interesting to hear what he has done to have personally upset you - we have always been well looked after by these guys off which one is a member of this parish ;)

I think you will find "moody nick" off this forum works there or forgive me if I'm wrong is the said person you describe, btw that's not my impression of nick at all.

Berthon isn't one of my stop off in lymington , it's the town in the summer and lyh for the winter.

I believe and hope that this whole comment is a joke as it couldn't be further from the truth. Nick is a friendly easy going TALL chap.

It was intended as a joke, I know Nick and I'm sure he'd know this but I do apologize to anyone who felt i'd said anything intentionally hurtful.

Cheers, Brian.

One of the boats on the outside hammerheads is this fine craft:

Poor photo even allowing for the fact that I was singlehanded and just grabbed a quick snap via blackberry as I was heading down the river.;)

Another +1 for Moody Knickers. Was walking back from Tesco in Lym today and sure I saw Mrs Henry. Small world
