Just a few pointers ... But I'm no expert.
My sheet winches are forward enough to act as a centre cleart. They don't look it. But it works.
Learn to lasso like a cow boy. I often get to within a few feet, too far to step off, then throw a line round a cleat and go from there. I tend to have both ends cleated off then throw the coil round the cleat and then pull in whichever end I want to bite round the cleat. Thanks to Duncan Wells for this tip. Read his book about short handed, it has a few decent tips.
Warp round when you can, especially if taking friends out. It takes all the stress out of it.
Don't be shy to call the marina and ask for help. I was embarrassed at first but when I had a tricky berth both myself and those around me all agreed to call in if single handed. Made for a much happier pomtoon.
