Berthing costs caribbean

Re: Berthing costs caribbean/crime/insurance

Not quite true about Trini now -my boat is properly tied down and the props are chained together and they will weld them if asked. My insurers (Admiral insisted). Strangely I have just changed to Nav and Gen and they don't require any precautions in Trini.

As for St Lucia - spent several happy weeks there in April along with hundreds of other boats, drove around the Island and had a great time. Even spoke to Melodye as she was anchored in Rodney bay herself and she seemed quite happy to be there. Not sure I would wander around Souffriere at night but that goes for many Caribbean towns.

I'm guessing you're in Power Boats, we saw some boats there tied to concrete blocks. That should keep the insurers happy meaning you can make a claim if needs be (heaven forbid).

The problem though is that when we left Trini in July 95%+ of boats there weren't tied down and to avoid damage all boats must be tied. Out of interest Pantanaius requires halyards to be tied to the ground as well and we saw no boats doing that.
