Are berths available in Spain (Incl Balearic) and what are cost for a boat of say 55ft
Where are cheapest place to keep such a boat for 6-12 months
How are cost to keep boat on the hard vs in water
?

At 55ft I would not take the boat out of the water, except for maintenance. Berths probably quite difficult at the moment as pontoon 2 in Portals is being demolished/rebuilt (so all those boats have to berth elsewhere - of which Valencia was an option for those that rent) and also believe Port Calanova is out of action due to being rebuilt (could be wrong on that port - is one of the palma ports). Alas I have no clue where the cheapest moorings are - I would hazard a guess that Portals, Palma, Andratx, Soler are more expensive than the rest.

55ft boat is big enough to move over to the Balearics whenever you want.
Then keep the boat on mainland Spain and cruise across (100ish miles) whenever you want.
The savings on keeping the boat on the mainland EASILY outweigh the costs of keeping that boat in the islands.
For example our 20m (67 footer) would cost in the region of 50 to 60 grand a year in Mallorca.
Whereas here in Sant Carles (on mainland Spain) we could berth for as little a 5 or 6 grand a year - inc electricity and water etc.
I know someone who berths on a 20m berth here for 350 euros per month - inc electricity and water etc.
The saving easily pays the fuel to make the crossing - even with fuel at £2 a litre.
We have been doing that kind of boating for the lat 14 years (not Covid years)

I always post this video as an example of what you can do when cruising the islands from Sant Carles

Another big advantage is that you can drive your car from the UK to Sant Carles - 6 to 7 hours from Santander/Bilbao after a nice relaxing Brittany Ferries cruise from Portsmouth or Plymouth.

As said above - rather than Valencia, have a look at Sant Carles - 20 miles nearer to Portals than Valencia.
And we have our own boatyard where you can do the work on your boat yourself - even stay on the boat whilst in the boatyard.
And pontoon style berths

Thanks a lot. I am looking at a boat in Mallorca but there are issues to be solved. The boat would stay in the Med max a year until we both are retired and have the time to head north with no time schedule.
