Asked daughter to look from end of pontoon and tell son who was pressing the buttons, when the tabs were fully raised.
Daughter said "oooh...bubbles are coming out!"
So of course I looked and sure enough bubbles were there but only it seems on the tab down movement. So checked the other tab, and same happens there. Now i'm 99.99 % sure this shouldn't happen, but thought i'd get some advice from you guys (& gals)..
Am I looking at expensive repair of seals or worse? If so any idea who in Gosport/Portsmouth could help??

Have you got oil in the resevoir and at the correct level ??
Just wondering whether the motor is actually pumping air rather than oil into the ram. !!!

If you have a genuine hydraulic leak there will be signs such as oil leaking into the water etc but if this is not happening and the tabs work perfectly well, don't worry. The lower rod seal is not a hydraulic seal and if the oil looks ok and not milky, water is not passing the upper ram seals.
These plastic Bennett units are really simple in every way.

Good point, no oil seems to be getting into water. Thought my problem would be water sucked into hydraulic system when raising tabs, but couldn't see any (as yet anyway)
Will look with bright light into reservoir next time I go..
thanks for advice..and hope you're right!!
I would like you all to look over your transoms next time you're on your boats and report as to who's blowing bubbles /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif (no michael jackson references thank you!!)

My "boat leveler" trim tabs do this and allways have. They work fine and have been serviced numerus times so I expect that its normal otherwise my marine mechanic chappy would have wanted lots of money to fix em /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
