Benetti\'s Legend Megayacht

Disappointed at the styling of the new megayacht from the Benetti stable. The mixture of different shape windows and sweeping lines from flybridge down makes it look ugly to me. Old and new mixture of styling that just doesn’t quite go together.

Re: Benetti\'s Legend Megayacht

Nasty IMO, looks like they did the same at BMW, tried to make things look different, just made them look awful.

Does it matter?

at this level, buyers spend little if any time looking at the boat. Big things like planes, large motor cars (bently, merc) and big houses aren't particularly beautiful but fulfill a function. Um, 24 m isn't really a "megayacht" is it?

But I agree, it could look a bit more attractive. For a truly horid megayacht try find a pic of Al Menwar (or is it al menwhar?) ug!

Re: Benetti\'s Legend Megayacht

Those swoopy bits coming down from the flybridge look poo.

I always though a megayacht was bigger than a superyacht /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Re: Does it matter?

Most unattractive.

Disagree with tcm though. At that end of the social spectrum, the yacht is a social statement, IMHO. Hence, it's not just size that matters, but what it actually looks like. Mind you, there's no accounting for some peoples taste - beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, it's just some people appear to be rather myopic!

Re: Benetti\'s Legend Megayacht

It looks like Benetti's design team took one part each then stuck them together. A camel is a race horse designed by a committee.

Am I the only one to speculate as to the design influence...

Al Menwar

Yup, Al Menwar is spectacularly unattractive and even cheap looking but it is effing big. Reminded of a cross channel ferry. We were moored on the same quay as her in Palma for a few days and her size made me feel somewhat inadequate especially when I clocked the harem of top totty cavorting around the sun deck.

Re: Benetti\'s Legend Megayacht

Whoops, its looks are certainly 'challenging'. Maybe Chris Bangle had a hand in this
Shame as Benetti's other yachts are quite elegant

Re: Benetti\'s Legend Megayacht

No, I saw the dolphin,

I really like it personally, thank heavens some one has taken the plunge and gone away from the drab mobo lines that are so prevalent today. I often wonder how you guys manage to find your boats in marinas. It must be like hunting down your tent at Glasto.

Seriously, I like it, a lot!

Re: Benetti\'s Legend Megayacht

Well the stying is not for me - but I do definately take your point. The "tear-drop" style windows (which I *think* were poineered by Pershing) are prevalent in every design today. They looked good a few years ago, but now I think they are very over-played, and in fact in danger of being dated - or cast as Chav or Bling (runs for cover). Thats why I like things like the Botnia Targa or indeed Windy, (well, I would say that) coz they cannot be labelled "Gin Palaces".

BTW - have you seen the new Windy in Porthmadog? Its a 34 Khamsin and its name is...."Bombay Sapphire". Doesn't take much thinking about does it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Benetti\'s Legend Megayacht

Is that the one just up from the SC steps. Similar to yours but a tatty cover!

Did not know the name though, but does he sell from the cockpit then?
