A Pal has been looking for some Months at the Beneteau Swift Trawler 44 model
As His 'skipper' and boaty advisor I have been searching the WWW too
As an 'advisor' and 'Expert' things like the drinks cabinet have been discussed in detail
Plus air conditioning etc. The usual important stuff, like how much will the crane lift to the motorbikes on board to go to the 'TT' on the Isle of Man
However He sent me a video of a Swift 44 that went on fire off Marco Island Florida
Plus another picture of a 34 aflame, from some Beneteau forum.
Sorry, I have tried to send a 'linky' thing but it aint my Forte
I was wondering if any of you kind intelligent, knowledgeable people on here have seen anything on the News or social media?
Plus, if anyone has a Swift 44 on here or has had one. I would be interesting to know your thoughts about said Vessel
We have boarded one in our Local Marina but not sea trialed one
I imagine they do what they say on the tin so we are not too worried there
There does look enough room to make a decent Optics rack too.
The spontaneous combustion might be a drawback though
Any thoughts or knowledge , thanks in advance

With the internet, its not difficult to find 2 pics or stories of any brand of boat on fire.
Just google 'azimut Fire' (or insert any preferred boat name ).
The beneteau swift trawler 34 was a success, prompting beneteau to make a newer line of trawler models. There are lots of good user reviews out there. I myself am considering one in the future as the idea of a modern trawler seems attractive .

Fairy nuff Jezz! The 'question' was really to find out if this/these 'reports' were true, knowing I would get more proper information on here than trawling the net.
Plus if anyone on here owns has owned a Swift 44, more about real information about noise levels, range and handling when the going gets choppy etc
 
I used to think that Sunseekers had a higher incidence of boat fires than other brands (at one time it seemed that there was a Sunseeker fire every other month). But I concluded this was unfair as it doesn't take into account the volumes of boats sold, the cause, which could be poor manufacturing, faulty 3rd party components or poor quality retrofits / diy interventions. You'd really need to do some root cause analysis before drawing any meaningful conclusions, and I doubt manufacturers or the authorities are willing to do this. Shame really as people die from boat fires.

Hi,

I think that the main reason behind the retrofitting of electronic devices, later the owner of neglected maintenance in electrical installations, how many inspect wire connections properly, if the bad connection can be heated dangerously and possibly a fire. I do not see the direct relationship between the manufacturer and the right aspect of the manufacturing volume.
