Anyway.... back to the point in hand...
The 411 sails very nicely indeed.... its a surprisingly quick boat...
As has been mentioned, it needs 10kts of breeze to get going....
And now onto the latter debate.... construction quality is just fine...
My 400 has the same hull, and i've had it out in 40kts without feeling at all concerned... and wow... can you believe I could still open all the doors!
As for the 'terrible shape'..... i've tried real hard..... I promise you... i've tried really really hard..... but the bugger just won't broach....... and ever tried sailing a narrow stern 70's/80's boat dead downwind in a big sea?... I know I have, and I know which boat i'd rather do it in..... and can you even begin to imagine.... every time I look the keel is still there, the bolts nice and tight and surely not?.....the bolts shiney... oh yes.... that'll be becuase of the dusty bilges not letting them get wet.... unlike the vast majority of 70's vintage boats i've ever sailed....
So lets be realistic, and focus on the question in hand.... is the 411 a good boat... and from my perspective, and that of hundreds and hundreds of owners.... its an absolute cracker.... many afficionados of the Beneteau marque will rank it rigth near the top of the best boats that Beneteau have ever produced in that size range
