We are thinking of trading up from our Hunter Horizon 21 to a Beneteau Oceanis 320.....anybody got any bad or good points to make?
We have found a tidy example 1988 for around £25k - normally my wife and I sail up the River Deben with occasional trips to Ipswich/Titchmarsh etc and we need something with more comfort/power etc - appreciate any advice:cool:

We purchased an oceanis 31 last year which is a fairly similar size to the 320 and we have been very happy. We sail out of the Ore and our pattern had been fairly similar to yours in our earlier boat ie not going much further than the Orwell but this summer we have been able to enjoy much more distant and longer cruises. It is not too big to sail on the local rivers or manoevre in marinas yet she is quite stable when reefed even in a force 5. Have a chat with the beneteau owners association (http://www.beneteau-owners-association.org.uk/) as they are pretty helpful. Fox's yacht sales are also a good source of advice as they may be able to tell you how the 320 handles and what to look out for in the boat that you are looking at.

Best Wishes

Benetau 320 wiring problem

Hi
I have a problem with a Benetau 320 oceanis. The Nav lights won't work on bow.
It's not the bulb is there a hidden fuse panel or a wiring diagram available ?

Regards

Mark

Hi Mark and welcome to the forum - you may have better luck posting this on the PBO forum to attract a wide selection of knowledgeable readers for technical matters - it's the forum at the top of this page. Unfortunately most of us on this forum only know about sand, mud and east coast pubs.

I fixed a Fulmar that was showing 12v at the light fitting, and the bulb was fine.
The problem was that the wiring going through the pushpit had oxidised over time, and although would show 12v, would not carry current load.

I replace the wire from the fitting back through the pushpit and into the forecabin, where I made a join with the original wiring. I just joined the old wire to the new wire and pulled it back through carefully.
Easy peasy

The stern light on the one we have just bought doesnt work .... hopefully the broker will sort it otherwise I may have to investigate:cool:
