Hi,
I m having keel issues with my oceanis 311 again! the screw mechanism seems to have separated, and i m trying to find out what parts i need from a beneteau dealer - without much luck as yet. a couple of pictures are attached below.

also, does anyone know of where to obtain what i ve heard of as a modified mechanism and how much it is?

best wishes

I have a 331 with the same mechanism. Mine was also worn out (boat 11 yrs old). Upper bearing had disintegrated. Bronze nut needed replacement. the plate bearing and side pads needed renewal. When the plate was removed it was discovered that the coating was coming away and needed to be shot blasted and a new coating applied.

I decided that the job was way beyond my capability.

On arrival to the boat in mid March I witnessed the engineers struggle. There was no way I could have done this renovation myself.

I understand a 'kit' is available from a French supplier. It is expensive.

pm me for more info.

My 311 is a 1999 boat and about 5 eas ago I had the same problem. Benetau "modified" the screw design in about 2002 - not a design fault of course - and effectively reversed the mechanism. I bit the (expensive) bullet and fitted the replacement myself with no difficulty (the boat was held in slings) and have since had n problems. This is doubtless because the mechanism can now be lubricated (greased) whenever the boat s dried out as the screw can be wound out into the saloon.

From memory I procured the replacement through the Benny dealer at Eastbourne but I am sure any Benny dealer an order it for you. Needless to say Beneteau will not supply direct!
