Occasionally I stumble across a boat ad that makes me think wow! Anyhow, saw this in the week...

What amazed me was the accommodation (separate heads) plus a galley and particularly the price at £28k plus VAT brand new. I know that excludes an engine but that's a remarkable price isn't it? Also demonstrates what a challenge Fletcher will have.

I also saw an 8.8 Sundeck in the summer and thought it was quite an attractive boat.

I looked at an 8.8 Sundeck last year at the Cap D'Agde Boat Show ... advertised at €56k … on the water with all the gizmos, 2 x 200 Yamahas, teak decks, microwave, swim platforms etc, it was €127k … show deal at €117k. Don't believe everything you read in adverts.

Why on earth do you need 400hp on an 8.8m boat
If you put it that way, we don't need boats at all, do we?
My old 8m Fountain with 450hp on single outdrive, capable ot 72mph, has been by far the most entertaining (to drive) boat I ever owned.
And overtaking a four O/Bs Midnight Express U.S. Custom boat in San Diego bay at 80mph or so, onboard a sistership whose same engine had been tuned 600+hp by Raylar, was even better!

126k ,with twins at Bates Wharf....even if you ask them to lose an outboard, you are going to need a hell of a discount to get to 28k, ex vat!
I see it will take 500 hp and 11 people. Not only the price looks optimistic!

£28k a bargain, £56k... well still not bad value, £130k..I don't think so!

ok... a different boat.. but my brother bought a Cap Camerat 625 last year, 11 years old with a Suzuki DF140hp from BHG, 3 month warranty, new garmin nav, with a trailer for £18k....

couldn't justify £130k on this.. but find a used one as I bet depreciation is pretty high..

I think we're getting confused between the "Flyer 8" and the "Flyer 8.8", its the former that's £28k and the latter that's on with Bates for £126k.

But I think Jez's point is valid. If you want a cheap day boat then two outboards is overkill IMO. If I was in the market for a cheap boat then I'd be looking at buying a new boat without an outboard and then see if I could find an ex-demo or nearly new motor to stick on the back. Of course, you could always buy a year or two old boat and get a bigger saving.

That's a nice find. I guess a single outboard 200hp example could be bought for c. £70k which makes sense if you want something That's still nice and shiny with low running costs.

I think the 8 is just a newer version of the 8.8 with, as is usual with these things, less stuff on it.
Edit: Actually it isn't a newer version of the 8.8, I've just looked it up. It's a completely new model and a fair bit smaller. The 8.8 starts at £58k in the UK and the 8 at £37k + everything you'll ever need added, i.e. engine(s) and VAT. Whichever one you choose you'll still have to sit down to pee … unless you're 5'4" ….. :encouragement:
