Just taken delivery of 2015 Beneteau Antares 30S initial views very pleased and delivery trip from Hythe Marina to Poole Friday 13th Dec went very well. A couple of things that surprised me was that there is no obvious indication when we plugged in to shore power other than plugging something into see I the socket was live. (Just ordered rom Amazon a voltage display plug that also indicates polarity etc, so hopefully that issue will be sorted.) Secondly it seems if one wishes to turn on the water heater one has to take up the floor under the helmsman seat and get on your hands and knees to find the switch. Is this normal on these boats or have others moved the switch to a more accessible position.

You could just leave the switch on under the seat and turn it off at the breaker? Or is that just as inaccessible? 🤣

Yeah, probably the best choice. The thing about water heaters is although they take a bit of juice to get the water up to temp when cold, they use very little to maintain the temp.

If there is space in the consumer unit you could fit one of these in series with the MCB :

A switch in a convenient location to activate the relay by 12v saves having to run 240v cable to a switch and back.

Leaving it on all the time will use a surprising amount of power over time.
 
Hi I've a a30 fly and I installed a illuminating mains switch adjacent to the power outlet above the drawers. A bit of a fiddle but well worth it. Lights up when switched on to remind me. Was a right faff before taking up the floor panel .I don't like leaving it switched on permanently.
 
Its a pretty poor design for the water heater where you have to lift the hatch to turn it on and off. Another pain was the fridge which you cant turn off. To remedy it, I installed a 12v panel, switching a 12v 240v 10amp relay for the water heater and a smaller relay for the fridge, also on the same panel i have a spot light and deck wash
