I have just purchased this lovely new boat. The owners manual does not give any rigging advice. Anyone know how to set up the mast rigging. e.g. What is the rake, pre bend setting and shroud tensions ?

Regards Frank

There is a lot of information on the First210.org website - http://first210.org. Go to the Tech Notes page and look in the ‘tuning and rigging’ section. Granted, this is all for the 210 rather than 217, but I would be surprised if they differ greatly.

And may I add my congratulations on buying a great little boat – I have a 210

I don’t know if the tabernacle is available as a retro-fit item. I know some 210’s are fitted with them, but I think perhaps that this is a factory option rather than a retro-fit. The ones with tabernacles also have two holes in the after deck, which I believe take a supporting arch structure for when the mast is lowered.

If you don’t have a tabernacle, then be careful if you choose to lower the mast. For one thing, it is long and heavy, and has a tendency to fall to one side or the other, which can cause damage. Also, on mine at least, the lower mounting bracket for the vang fouls the cabin top as the mast gets lower.

And welcome to the pleasures of 210 ownership - they are great little boats.
