benetaeu 710 stop switch

recently purchased a benetaeu 710 with yanmar engine 1057 hours serviced last year and not used due to previous owner ill health took her out a few days ago all great but coming back in about 2 days ago at 18 knots put back on berth and allowed turbo to cool the stop switch would not kill the engine ?? pressed and pressed after holding it down for several seconds (15 or so ) it finally stopped is this normal as ive only had boats with pull stop kill switches thanks in advance

It’s not normal for any diesel engine that I’ve had. If it were mine I would start by checking the wiring to and from the switch. Are there any other signs of problems, like smoky exhaust?

No mate button first then once engine stops turn key to off position

No no smoke engine running excellent asked old owners son he also said that’s strange as it’s always worked
