Been here for 3 days now, very pleasant, ready to move on tomoz to wards Almerimar.
Been looking at little bays for mooring and been looking at Windguru, Xcweather etc. Basically S gusting 8mph. So on the face of it not too bad. However, about two hours ago, wind got up from the SW blowing a bit now, a boat just came in, blowing a 6 from the SW out there he said! And I believe him. Checked the forecasts again, 5-8 mph! What is going on?

Sea breeze, probably. Fairly common during the summer. Specially with the wind now west in the Straits. Should give you a nice afternoon passage towards. Have a good one!

Out of the three nights there we rocked and rolled for two of them, serious stuff, toe rails up and own two feet, the guy next to us last night was actually seasick!

Were you near the harbour entrance? does have a bit of a reputation there. friends of ours have moved further in over the years to a nice tranquil spot.

Sounds like a lovely cruise!
About 6 miles from Almerimar, donk on since 08.00, had a breath of sea breeze about two hours ago but I reckon it was only to get us excited! Sigh!
Will do a few days around here then do a single passage back to Gib next week, no more moaning about too much wind !

You may get lucky and it will turn east!

Then it gets foggy. ;)
Back in LL, 36 hrs of motoring no wind till near Gib for the last few miles, then it turnd foggy at the east anchorage, wind had gone northerly. Just going dark, good fun on radar and ais, fog lifted at Europa Point just as it went dark, nearly a full moon. Cooked batteries removed today, sourcing new ones.
Interesting doing a lot of motoring, donk drinks 1.5 ltrs of diesl an hour in those conditions, there is a 3 ish kt current setting east from Gib! guess how we found out! and I used 2/3 ltr oil in 40 plus hours of motoring.

Good fuel economy. Often needed to get round Europa against the combined efforts of the current and tide stream.

Got Calima here, its like being in a sand storm. Half ot the Sahara is paying a visit! Came over from Coralejo today and am still sneezing, plus taking out a charter group on the Cat in an hour.......
