Bembridge (again)

It was Bembridge as I was there during the filming and watched the film paitiently to see if my boat was in any of the takes but no luck. It was great to watch some of the filming and to get an insight into how it's all done.

Bembridge is indeed beautiful but getting like the rest of the Solent, rip off the sailor as much as possible and hope they don't notice or scream too much. I am off to the baltic again theis year for some great sailing, friendly people and reasonable prices. We should learn from the likes of Denmark and Sweden where a serviced pontoon berth is about £400 per year!

Before and after ....

Bembridge before Marina was quiet, had the Smugglers Hut etc. etc. Anchor in harbour or run up on beach.

Later I got my own boat and sailed over to find the marina and no smugglers hut ! Plus high rate mooring, against the Local Council rated Ryde etc.

I was told - right or wrong I can't say - but that Brading Harbour Company won the rights to Marina provision based on a promise to dredge the harbour and improve facilities for visitors and resident boats alike. Seems that they forgot something along the road ..... of course it may be wrong info - but I feel it may be right - it was a harbour official that passed it on to me !!

My allegiance has now changed to Newport Town Quay ..... sort out Bembridge fee's and moorings and I'll go back ...
