I am expecting to spend the summer working in Brussels. Can any one please recommend a marina where I can keep my 30 ft Yacht on the Belgian/French/Dutch coast that's about 1 hour or less drive from Brussels? Many thanks!

take your pick, or try Flushing and the Dutch inland system

You might also post your question on the site of the Brussels RYC ("bryc.be"). Besides the ports already mentioned (but it really dependends on the kind of sailing yoyu want to do - open sea or inland waters), there are also Nieuwpoort and Veere that you might consider (Veere is a bit more than an hour's drive, but I used to keep my boat there when I lived in Brussels).

Nieuwpoort is the largest yacht harbour on the North Sea coast. There are 3 clubs: VVW, www.vvwnieuwpoort.be
Air Force, also open to civilians, www.wsklum.be
KYCN, www.kycn.be

Oostende, larger town, pontoons less quiet , 3 clubs.

Blankenberge, not recommended this season, enlargement works not yet finished, many locals have had to look for a spot in other harbours.

Zeebrugge, large commercial harbour, yacht basin being redeveloped, club RBSC, www.rbsc.duo.be

Breskens is worth a look, although 2 hours by car from Brussels.

Antwerp is closest to Brussels, but 6 hours sailing to open sea.

If you do not mind driving 2 hours, the marinas on the Oosterschelde or Veerse Meer are worth considering

I'm in Steenbergen, Netherlands. Driving to Brussels Airport takes me about an hour from where I am (depending on traffic, of course).
I think there must be room in our marina. Send me a PM if you want to know more.

The owner/HM allows liveaboards (I'm one). Supermarket 50 yds from marina. Open till 8 on weekdays, very handy if you live aboard.

happy sailing

Terneuzen

That's where I'm based.

Marina's on the belgian coast were never my first choise: from Brussel to the coast on a friday evening in the summer, it is bumper to bumper traffic. Same on sunday.

Nieuwpoort: biggest marine, biggest distance from BXl, 31ft at about 800€ per season

Oostend: good luck, waiting list

Blankenberge: problems with dredging works continues. Supposed to be finished in July

Zeebrugge: Expensive

In Terneuzen, I pay 1000€ for my 31 ft, apr-oct; metered electricity, washer dryer on site, nice town close by (which is not the case in Breskens)

Will you live on board, or do you want to continue saliing ? Otherwise try Antwerp?
