In the past, it has been the habit of an auld esteemed friend to bring several cans of Fray Bentos meat pies when invited for a sail. I now understand that he'll be bringing along his life raft instead. This raft has a drinks locker with rum whisky and some bottles of fine wine, ferrero rocher chocolates, a Bang & Olufsen home entertainment centre and, probably, an anchor which will undoubtedly be superior to my own.

I would be entitled, I feel, to be a little grumpy at this cornucopia only being available upon our shipwreck?

But what you must not forget is that the decision to take to the liferaft rests soley with the skipper.

While people may think it a little ecentric to take to the liferaft while in the marina - that is your perogative

Perhaps a request for an inspection of said liferaft and contents may induce a reinstatement of the previous arangement.

In the criteria as to whether to launch or not, have you considered the need to avoid social ostracisation by having a liferaft which does not co-ordinate with the colour of the yacht, by chance ?
