About 5 or maybe 6 feet at the Beetle. Dunno about the Leathern as no one uses it but I have seen one of those large Dutch boats with the rope fenders on it.
 
We stayed at The Leathern last month and no problem with depth, 1.5 to 1.8 metres. We were on the down stream end of the moorings where there are better spaced cleats and a very large Le Boat moored in front but I don't think they draw much, but it was a monster!

When are you off?
 
Leathern Bottle - Highly Recommended Tasting menu & mooring

We moored outside the Leathern Bottle in our S37 two weeks ago on our holiday voyage, no problems with depth on the mooring and highly recommend the tasting menu with matched wines, seven courses and seven glasses of very nice wine (well six glasses and one glass of port).

On a sunny evening its a one of my favorite spots on the river, the only downside is the passing express trains.

We also stopped at the Beetle and Wedge on our way back down river but even though we had booked the mooring outside we opted to stay a bit further downstream alongside the field, only about a 7 minute walk back to the Beetle & Wedge but a much nicer outlook the following morning for breakfast.

I think the official draft on the S37 is 3ft.

The biggest issue for me is when the bank is not vertical and there are shallow areas sticking out so I always lift the outdrives to beach mode when coming alongside unfamiliar moorings.

I am fairly sure my depth gauge was showing over 2ft when I moored at the Leathern Bottle and it looked like the depth was consistent right along the whole pontoon area.

Well, I was going to check but ended up rafted alongside this rather well presented vessel, so couldn't. There is more than enough depth when rafted though!
 
Well, had a very pleasant Birthday lunch at the Beetles and Wedge yesterday. Adequate depth on their mooring for my mighty vessel, we were expected and greeted on arrival, good food, excellent service - mind you, the voyage across from Ashmount was quite demanding.......:D

Now moored at Wallingford and just had an excellent curry at Anokhi's.
 
Christ Darren, you're lucky you were allowed to moor alongside the 'French polished' vessel that is Akers!

I had to go and get a full hull and topsides polish, change our clothes and drown the Dogs before we could even cruise within 100 metres!

Or maybe it was just because it was me??

We are heading up river on Thursday for a couple of weeks and just wondering what the mooring is like at the Beetle & Wedge, and also very interested to know about the field moorings? We will be travelling with friends in our boat, and between us will have 3 dogs, so want somewhere where we can walk them as well and to stay the night after a nice meal.
Went past there last year and looked great, it's just a matter of where to stay...

You can moor anywhere on the left after Cleeve lock on the way up to the Beatle, you can get as close as a few hundred metres, nice open spot good for dogs, although actualy there maybe sheep about sometimes. Don't moor on the right or the nasty man in the tractor will come and turf you off;)
