When we're in that part of the world, we get our spirits from Alderney Duty Free.
Beer and wine are generally better value in France.
Cherbourg: Majestic in France.
Leclerc usually has great offers too, though not within walking distance.

Definitely Cherbourg, apart from duty free spirits, wine etc quite a bit more expensive in CIs and not a great choice.

Sorry. From the number of posts assumed you would have been there. Alderney is one of my favourites among the CI, along with Herm and Sark, but no chance of stocking up on either of those!

Carefour in Cherbourg is open, although the outside is a building site. If you cross over the bridge and carry on over the fishing nets and past the wire railings the entrance is on the side of the building towards the end. Once inside there is a wide range of wines at excellent prices compared to our over taxed prices.

Best to buy from the place which offers decent wines! Or the nicest place to visit
Worth worrying about if you're buying 4 dozen bottles or more. Otherwise the difference in mooring fees is a bigger variable . . .

I usually find the Hyper market in Cherbourg a good bet. The 'Majestic' in the marina is IMO a rip off and priced to be just a bit cheaper than in the UK.
You can get a TAXI form the Hypermarket back to the marina with all your booze relatively easily. I usually pick one up at the bus stop.
The CI IMO does not have as good a selection and is more expensive that the French Hypermarkets.

The biggest drawback about buying in the CI is that you are limited to the usual travellers allowances, whether bought duty free or not, as the CI aren't part of the EU. French supermarket wine can be brought in virtually without limit.

Sorry you have a few things wrong.
It was Normandy Wines in the Marina that I believe has now closed down. Majestic is the one at the hypermarket .
Order online and it entitles you to a further discount if you spend enough. Pay when you get there and you can easily change your order and even increase it and still get the extra discount. If you spend enough they also supply a taxi.
I always use the Cherbourg Scuttlebutt Cruise in September to stock up for 6 months!!
