Beer and Natter Yarmouth - see first page for date and attendees

Morning guys, apologies for going quiet on this one, had a bit of bad news in the family that needed to take priority.. Paul, thanks for keeping the arrangements moving along, sterling job buddy. I'll get back on top of things in the coming weeks to clarify arrangements for the ride and Beer and Natter, no probs bringing the timing of the meal forward and / or doing something on the boats instead.

Cheers Gary

A bit of thread resurrection, as we need to start firming up a few things, not least booking space at Yarmouth. The "RTI Cycle" Rally is booked with Yarmouth Marina, and those of us taking boats there need to have paid deposits 6 weeks ahead of the event on the weekend of 1/2 July. Cyclists will rock up on Friday 30th, as we will be heading out at 9 ish on the Saturday, those just for the pie and pint can turn up on the Friday or Saturday, as they wish. oGaryo is looking at the route, and I expect him to walk it first, to confirm the rehydration points. I have a booking form, so please PM your e mail addresses, and I will get back to you. I need to check the bike over this weekend, make sure the stabilisers are OK, as apparently these are must-haves for motorboaters. The generator pack also needs a bit of work, mainly aimed at weight reduction. Apart from that, all good to go :D

It looks like we just need to call the marina, let them know we are on the RTI rally, give the boat deatails, and pay on arrival. No need for booking forms or pre-payment. Thanks to Wipeout for forging the path.

This is what I think we know to date.

Boats for Yarmouth Harbour
oGaryo
Rafiki
Tulana
Boadecea
Flowerpower
Wipe_out
Lewis John

No formal booking required. Just call the Harbour soonest, and let them know you are part of the Forum RTI Rally, and book your nights. Pay on the day.

Cyclists:-
oGaryo + a couple from his superfit cycling club
Rafiki
Flowerpower
Lewis (x2)
Back-up Colhel and SpottyDog (Roy doesn't know this yet, but would be very useful to have his local knowledge)

Karearea flying in from NZ, so we will meet you in the harbor. If you PM me I will ping my mob phone number.

For the meal, we are going to leave this option open. Some of us will BBQ/fish and chips/mill round the harbor. Others might want something more formal, restaurant or pub. All gather to share stories/beer/gin/whathaveyou during the evening.

Hope that is all for now?

Just spoken to Yarmouth, and they want me to send the list of boats for the Rally on the Monday of the event. So I think I need:
Boat name, Length, Beam, Owner.

By the way, for anyone who has not visited Yarmouth this year, a few minor changes have occurred;

There website has been revamped, and on a mobile device seem pretty dodgy, I always look at their webcam as I come in the harbour to pick my spot and is not so nice to use at all..

Showers which were £1.30 for 6 minutes and always a reason for people to moan are now free

There is the most ridiculous new café area in the harbour commission building, where they sell a few drinks, and crisps have a coffee machine.. and you can buy a bottle of gin, but not drink it as they are not licenced, and generally begs the question.... wtf!

...but apart from that, its as lovely as ever which is why we will be buying a second home there in the very near future..

Many thanks James. Useful info for us Yarmouth novices.

Agreed , the website is pants , I mentioned it to them at the weekend and they seemed unaware of it in the office . They're missing a trick in the new lobby/coffee area , it needs a bacon butty dispenser installed , just to help exhausted sailors out you understand ;):encouragement:
