Beer and Natter. Mercury Yacht Harbour. October 22nd

When these events come together it can leave one feeling extremely satisfied and proud that you managed to pull people together who otherwise wouldn't have met other than via written word on a computer screen. Getting to that stage requires a fair amount of communication here and our hosts at the chosen venue.
This morning Helen and I had some truly awful news which means our Daughter and Grandchildren will need a lot of support from us and others.

I would like to hand over the organising to someone else as though this bit can be fun, it's one distraction and responsibility too at the moment
Sorry to have to share such personal information, but I couldn't think of another way to explain my reason.

I’ve had a bit of a chat with Colin and will take over any co-ordinating that may be required although in reality I think it’s quite a relaxed affair. I’ll make a few posts nearer the time to keep everyone awake and in the meantime if people need anything just post on here.

Colin’s one of life’s good guys, maybe we’ll see him on the night. I hope so

When things happen in life it makes you appreciate friendships. It’s good to talk.

Well done Henry for taking on the mantle. And Sharon of course!

Hi there people

Not long to go now. If you are planning to attend by boat could you post up a boat name on here please so I can let the marina know to expect you and allocate a berth accordingly.

mid you are planning to attend just for the evening could you also post just so we have a rough idea on numbers.

Thanks

Henry

In case Mark hasn’t seen this, 4 of us will tender over from Universal. No need to berth Maia at Mercury.

Can you pencil me in please Henry. I'll be driving down from Shaftesbury, North Dorset so if anyone wants a lift or picking up from the train station/ferry terminal let me know.
If anyone is a bit anxious of meeting usernames in real life, my experience of these events is only positive. And there's always a warm friendly welcome to new faces. ?

Ok, all noted with thanks.

There are a few people coming from the Solent Facebook group as well so we won’t be too lonely.

quite a few rooms are driving or tendering there. Maybe we’ll do something in the season next year which gets people out on their boats.

See you all Saturday.

We are planning a trip over to the Island on Sunday.

we will be driving up as have a poorly dog at the moment.

Sorry to hear pooch is poorly, if you are planning to take him, the gaff rigger is not dog friendly.

We wont be there, in part as we cant leave puppy at home but also as we are both still covid positive and no desire to share it with anyone!

have a great time all, thanks colin for setting it up and henry for chasing it over the finish line
