Hello,

i have been looking for a 200-250hp outboard for about 2 months now without any luck.

how do you recomend i go about finding one?

Requirements
-200-250hp
-no older than 2000
-some sort of warranty
-not evinrude? i have been told anything older than 2010 is a waste of cash.
-our budget is kinda low £5-6k
-25 or 30 inch shaft
-NOT a carb 2 stroke. ideally 4 stroke but i'd settle for DI

i know it's a low budget but i have got very close many times before finding out it's a 20 inch shaft or they no longer want to sell...

i have never owned a boat before and it's killing me to be sat in my drive with no engine on the back!

if anyone knows anything about where theres one for sale or where to look i'd really really appreciate it

Many thanks

Nathan

Sorry, but somethings got to give. Your biggest problem will be getting a warranty, without one there has been lots of choice over the summer. Ebay, boats and outboards, boatshop24, all good places. You need to check them daily to find the right engine (I would check Ebay 3 or 4 times a day).

Don't know where you got the advice about Evinrude, the ETECS (from about 2006) are IMHO 1 of the best engines out there.

The only reason i want a warranty is i have been told a number of times (and i can't remember exactly) but i think it's to do with a piston or the case around it braking and a even when fixed won't last long?

Thanks for the info on evinrudes and I’ll defiantly not rule out any that come up.

i have seen many outboards perfect but so far they have all been scams, almost always the ones on boats and outboards. One guy even went as far as making a fake shipping company website that holds the money for you...

Thanks for the advice

Nathan
