I am looking at a number of single engine mobo’s fitted with D4-225 engines. Personally I would like a bit more power but there is a limited supply of boats with larger engines. Can a D4 225hp or any of the D4 range be re-mapped to give additional hp.

In a word, yes.

You do have to consider what you gain and what you lose such as more top end power gains for bottom end torque losses, and the claims many make about their remapping as many are overstated.

When this subject has been raised before the advice has been "don't do it".

The engine designers may have upgraded some components for the engines that are sold from new at the higher power spec.

It's probably easy enough to turn a D4-180 into a D4-225.
But a D4-260 has a different turbo and a supercharger.
D4-300 has a different cylinder head.
So although many parts are common, some quite expensive ones are not.

Aquatom of this parish is based in Mallorca.

A customer of his did it in spite of being told not to.

They lasted a few hours and both went. They are on the right in his workshop and have been there for many years as non economic to repair. Don’t do it
