In my quest for my next and much smaller boat I have been looking at US boats around 24-27ft with the usual mid cabin (under the cockpit) layout. I was set on a Monterey 262 until I discovered that the midcabin bunk was only 3ft 3inches wide.
Downsizing is difficult enough without skimping on bed size so I would really appreciate input as to which boats have a mid cabin berth at least 4ft wide.

Good spot and not that uncommon. My Fairline Targa 27 had an under-cockpit berth of similar width - in fact it might have been an inch less! Bearable when the kids were tiny, but they soon grew out of it.

Have a look at the maxum 2800scr one of the biggest mid berths i have seen on this size boat and not claustraphobic and very light not dark

regds ash

May be be a bit old for you but the Bayliner 2455 from the late 80's has a huge mid cabin berth. I would say it is getting on for 5ft wide. The slightly later 2651 is the same boat so that gets you up to about 1991.

Both these boats are trailable having 8' beam and weighing around 2-2.5 ton

Thanks Neale, but like you say a bit too old, I'm looking for something post 2000. Now thinking about the Regal 2665 or 2565 as these appear to have the biggest aft bed. Seems my final choice of new boat will depend on the size of the bed!!!
