Beautiful Sailboat Sunk in Bottom of Hamburg Cove, Lyme CT.

Have you actually listened to the explanation?

"The vents on the side of the boat that discharge the excess water from inside of the boat, well, those froze so that the excess water that was inside the boat was not getting pumped out of it"

Yeah .... right. :ambivalence:

Have you actually listened to the bit where he admits to knowing nothing about boats?
That sounds pretty much exactly how I'd imagine someone with no knowledge of through-hulls describing a through-hull failure.

Prezackly, Newtothis. Ambient low air temp gradually blocks the outlet from bilge pump with ice, leading to leak filling the hull. The lower in the water, the faster the leak. Ooops.

I could not see any obvious solar panels or wind power on the fly-bys, so it's poss that the pumps failed when the batteries went down.

Fear not; It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single chemist in possession of a good mind must be in want of a forum to display it. Richards and his library of creepy icons will be back with a sharp little comment, no doubt.

Errrrr ..... what leak Sarabee? One thing that we all seem to be agreed about is that there was no ice damage to the hull.

You'll deffo have to up your game if you want to play with the big boys 'cos Fear not; It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single chemist in possession of a good mind must be in want of a forum to display it. I think the explanation is bullshit too haha..why was there a leak in the first place?
A yacht like that should be dry, possibly engine cooling water inlet failure or like, any major failure like that most boats small bilge pumps find it difficult to keep up with.
I accidently snapped off a toilet seawater intake seacock on Benetteau 44. and it speeded up my reactions when I realised that the bilge level was rising faster than the standard bilge pumps could pump out.
