Beautiful jaunt up the Gt Ouse yesterday

Air draft goes down to 6'5"

You should be ok on the Nene, mine is 2.25m with the hat on and 2m (app 6ft 6") folded and I can get to Northampton ok. (all the air-draught guage's round here are in EA french and the tide guage's set to Immingham upstream of Wisbech just to keep you on your toes)
If you decide to come this way let me know and Ill pass on some info (might even meet you on bar flat!)

We have decided we are definately going that way next summer for our two week cruise in July.

The link I posted has the latest tide tables and entrance notes (from Fenland district council), if you do head this way next summer contact me in advance and I'll see what notes I can get sorted for you, I don't tend to venture further upstream than Thrapston as the river changes its character and the lower sections are by far the best IMHO.

It is possible to get to the Ouse inland via the Middle levels but I would advise you have a look at Kings Dyke and Outwell drain (the names should say it all) by car or Google before deciding to take your boat through.

Cheers.

Think we will be sticking with the Great Ouse and tributaries though. We will only have two weeks off and need to get too and from Lincoln in that time so will spend 7 days exploring the Great Ouse, Lark, Wissey and Little Ouse.

Will come back and do the Nene at a later date.

Be sure to stop at Ely, it's quite nice there, lovely cathedral and a couple of nice eateries on the waterfront.

If you intend to get as far as St Neots, PM me in advance and I will sort out a free mooring for you. All facilities, secure marina. It could cost you a drink though!!!
