We'll be moored near Bucklers Hard on Sunday. Can you help me choose where to eat?

Is the Masterbuilders 'proper' sit-down-with-table-clothes restaurant a good place for a gastronomic lunch? Anyone been there this year? What's their food like nowadays?

I'm tempted to walk up to the Montague Arms at Beaulieu. That's in the gastro guides, and we enjoyed the food (and the walk) on our last visit. But maybe we should give the Masterbuilders a chance. Any views?

Both Master Builder and Montague Arms are established hotels with restaurants (tho' shy about advertising any national gradings.)
They have comprehensive websites, including menus, on Google.

For tips on navigating to the Palace Quay at Beaulieu just ask.

I've eaten at the Master Builder restaurant and very fine it was too. Others complain about the bar but I've not had a real problem there in recent years but then I'm not like the riff-raff that usually inhabit this forum /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks for all your comments. As for navigating up to Palace Quay, I had my last lesson in that one afternoon 33 years ago. Spent too long after high tide in the Masterbuilders. Then blindly offered to take prospective SWMBO up to PQ in the dinghy. Made it - only just though - by pulling her across the mud African Queen style. Not been allowed to forget in 33 years. Have already consulted tides for this Sunday, I'm not risking another dinghy trip. We'll be walking!
