Just seen this advertised at work.

http://www.eventgoat.co.uk/windsor/beat-the-boat-10k-trail-race-vs-a-boat/

Three boats are going to run at 40 min/ 50 min and 60min pace.....

Now by my reckoning

10Km in 40 mins is 1km every 4 mins = 15km/h

10km in 50 mins is 1km every 5 mins = 12km/h

10km in 60 mins is 1km every 6 mins = 10km/h

So the boats are advertised as speeding (excluding locks) through the whole event!

Are the boats doing 10km though or just going up to the Racecourse and back ?
Mind I've never seen one doing the speed the limit yet!

Most of the big hire boats exceed the speeds I can do without causing an unhealthy wash! Most of them do not leave an unhealthy wash either, so nobody seems to mind, which is quite fair!

It's not the speed limit people have an issue with, it's the wake which causes damage and upsets moored boats... :-)
