Anyone sailed around the Beara Peninsula on Ireland's west coast? Is there anywhere I can leave the boat safely moored there for a few weeks in the summer?

(26ft fin keel sailboat with 5 ft draft)

There's a small 'marina' on Bere Island (access by ferry).

Its called Lawrence Cove marina and is indeed a lovely spot - very friendly too.

Also I remember some moorings at Sneem on Kenmare river.

Lawerance's cove

Haven't been there for a few years, but thought there was a son and or daughter effectively running things?

I left a boat in Lawerance's cove for a few weeks and the service is just 100%. Ferry on/off the island. Great fun and loads of walks/cycles but not much shopping.
Diesel, lift out, storage and generally good boat people around there.

Sailing is spectacular, sometimes a bit of swell but go for it. Take you time getting there, visit Dingle, Blasket Islands, Crook Haven, Schull.....the list goes on.

Macarthy's Bar on The Square at Beara/Castletown Bearhaven is famous and rightly so. It's a 50m. stroll from the fish-landing quay.

However, be very aware that the same fish-landing quay with its unlit open fish shed is - after dark - a frequent haunt of drug dealers.... some very hard types indeed. I'd think carefully about mooring alongside there again....
