Chimet & associate sites do show the wind speed as knots as primary info - the beaufort scale is secondary in brackets
Currently showing:
Mean Speed 19.7 kn (F5)
Highest Gust 23.3 kn (F6)
Direction WSW
Metoffice give a guide to the scale here but only give upper/lower limits to the speeds - not expected gust speed.
I know Beaufort scale related to the seastate rather than just the wind strength, but it's usage has moved on .
