Signed. You would think they would want to encourage people to come to the area and spend money in local businesses.

Peeps with hidden agenda are behind the move to privatise, its being pursued as a marine project but that is not the whole story! If the Forest of Dean Council cannot see the wood for the trees! Then we will lose it. Sand dregers and marine Vandalism comes to mind!

What sort of "marine project" are they talking about?

If it is somewhere that people who are unable to dry out are able to visit ie a marina, then it may bring even more benefits to the area.

Of course I wouldn't want to see the facility just fenced off and moth balled

There is nothing Transparent about the proposals and the Forest of Dean Council must have a real pain in the "backside" from sitting on the fence!

This is news to me. Perhaps you had better be more forthcoming of why this slip is under private threat. SARA use this slip for their Beachley operation.

As far as I understand - but I may be wrong - is -
The slipway was originally sold to the FOD council for £1.00. Whether or not there were covenants created to protect the public right to use the slip, I do not know, but I would think that if the slipway was sold to the council then it became the property of the taxpayers who should have the right to use it.
It would seem that the offer to purchase has been made by a company further up the river Wye, that is required to seek new premises. I have difficulty in comprehending the thinking of trying to berth small ships alongside at a part of the river Severn where the currents are particularly strong. It just doesn't make sense!
Let us just hope that common sense prevails in all discussions.

The Ferry Bell used to manage and loaded many a car! No problem with landing craft type boats!
