I'm about to buy a 23ft deep-v sports boat and have an along-side mooring that dries. Can anyone tell me where I can obtain beaching legs that will keep the boat relatively upright when dried out?
Also does anyone have experience of the pros & cons of these?
Thanks.

I've also been thinking about these, prompted by a friend's road trailer which has two at the rear. It has a sleeve attached to a fixing plate, with an L-shaped bolt to hold the tubular leg. My concern is what damage might occur if the boat is rocking from side to side as it settles, but as the bottom is mud, perhaps I'm being too cautious. I'm told they can be obtained from trailer manufacturers.

What sort of bottom is there?

I don't think beaching legs are appropriate to keep a boat upright on its permanent mooring unless the bottom is VERY hard. Even in "hard" sand the legs will tend to settle a bit further into the sand on every tide and soon be worse than useless.

Why not pop along to the marina at low tide and see how other boats deal with the problem - you may find that the boat tends to settle relatively upright without any additional support (especially if the bottom is softish)

Thanks. The bottom , tight to the wall is large stones interspersed with soft mud. About 2 metres out it is firm river bed. The present boat leans at a sharp angle away from the wall - it's weighted that way. When left leaning towards the wall it has been known to crash over the opposite way if you move about on board or just in strong winds.
This could injure the crew or even worse damage the boat. We could possibly get away with just supporting the outer side and allow the boat to lie aganst the wall.
Does anyone know the address of The Yachtleg & Cradle CO. as I dont fancy ruining bright new topsides with my DIY "skills"

The telescopic legs supplied by the Yacht leg Co. are excellent: lght, easy to stow and easy to deploy. You need to make sure that the attachment point is well stiffened by a good backing pad. Suitability for your mooring will depend on wash conditions as much as anything: if the waters are calm and the boat settles gently then it should be fine, and if the legs settle in over the course of time they can always be adjusted very easily. If your mooring experiences significant wash or swell then think again.
