Beaching legs- easy?

6 M8 bolts into a 10mm thick pad welded to the joint between steel deck and the steel hull and gunnel steel tube. Its also welded to one of the steel frames.

Ah, of course, steel hull, no sweat whatsoever. In which case you could equally have a threaded steel socket in the hull to bolt the leg lower down?

They asked and I don’t require any acknowledgment. I’m just happy to help them attempt to make a profit and therefore keep producing them. It can’t be easy given the very small market for them.

To be fair lots of people have lifted images of you using your legs over the years. I’m sure they acknowledge you or remove them if you ask them. They’ve always responded to my emails very quickly.

Did they pay for or acknowledge your contribution? They have lifted at least three of my photos from my website without asking and do not respond to my emails. They are partnered with the CA but did not answer their queries about my pics.

Of course I have no objection to people lifting images from my website for personal use. A very large number of them were not taken by me but I always try to ask the owner for permission to use them.

The difference is that my site is provided freely with no gain to myself. Pinching my property for commercial gain is a different matter. I have promoted their product for years and am confident that I have helped to sell many sets. The least they could have done is to ask.

Agreed.

I also agree with Vyv Cox

When I was building and designing my current boat, I took lots of pictures and posted then for use by fellow sailors but its easy for people to take other people's idea and use it for their own gain.

I've recently bought a meridian 31 ,AKA hurley 9.5 ,it came with a set of beaching legs , I haven't dragged them out if the locker yet , but they look like the ones made by the manufacturers

I've got a few things to sort out first, then take a proper look at them

Interesting old thread reactivated. Thank goodness I don’t need beaching legs! 🙂IMG_2193.jpeg
Instead of retracting beaching legs ours has the more convenient retracting keel and rudders and sits nice and flat on the beach. See here sheltering from high winds and reflected waves which were battering those attempting to shelter in the bay behind us. The extended storm lasted 4 days but didn’t bother us as at lower tide periods we just went walking, oystering and general on land exploring the uninhabited island. 🙂
