Beached our boat yesterday

At the risk of turning this into a "best antifoul" thread, I have used Jotun SeaQueen and Seaguardian for about five years now in Haslar so the same waters. Lasts 2 years with a wash off at the end of the first year. You get a line of kelp at the waterline but nothing except a thin coat of slime on the rest of the hull. I know the seaquirts are there in Haslar because I found one up the engine water intake!!

It is pretty cheap as well

Damn, that has now put me in a quandry, to anti foul or not to anti foul that is now the question? I used to be indecisive but now i'm not so sure!
Seriously though, thanks for your input, it could be worth a try along with regular beaching and cleaning. We are not racers so not looking for perfection and cheap is good!

Give it a try without antifouling.
If you find it does foul you can always scrub off and slap a coat on. Nothing to loose financially.

I know what I am going to do!

Agree - I use Jotun Seaforce 30 and again only slime halfway through the season and a few barnacles at liftout. I only put on one coat so needs doing every year. On the East Coast. You buy Jotun from Shepherds Marine (or chat up a local fisherman).

When I was cruising "properly" and doing about 2,500 miles each season I had almost no fouling on the hull. Do more sailing , that's the answer. What was the question?

This whole antifoul thing has me confused, it's worse than anchors!
Using brand X and also brand Y, my boat fouled like no tomorrow. But the dinghy tender, which lay afloat and might once in a while see a lick of same antifoul, fouled not at all.
