Off the Power Station to the east of Gileston beach [?] spent many school summer holidays fishing along the beach and by the warm water outfalls for the station. An area that always seems spooky to me when sailing.
 
Know what you mean by spooky! The first time I went along that coast was an early summer morning with thick mist, and I had to alter course as the bows of a ship loomed ahead. It turned out to be the weird concrete dome of the outfall structure /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The whole shape of the coast, with the rock strata, shingle banks, brown water, industrial/rural landscape, all makes for a strange atmosphere IMO.

(The main stack is the one with the 4 vert reds)
 
Just that great big object sitting there in the water - when I was a kid we were convinced that 'bad things' happened there.
Just have to crack the photo loading thing - back in a mo!
