Having transported our new Cobb BBQ to Lisbon thanks to Easyjet, we have not been able to find any BBQ Brickettes. Lots of big lumpy charcoal, but blank looks when we try to describe what we need.

Now in Lagos, having cruised down here over Easter. Any ideas where we can get some, and what are they called? We gather that charcoal doesn't burn as well.

Can see us bringing them out in baggage after our last trip home!!

I vaguely remember seeing brickettes in Leroy Merlin DIY store at Guia about a month ago, might be worth a phone call.

I must admit before I changed to gas I only ever used brickettes in desperation, real charcoal was always the fuel of choice. Brickettes tend to be made out of the stuff that wasn't good enough to put in the 'real' charcoal bags.

We use good quality briquettes (Weber) when we can get them, cheap ones when we can't, and charcoal when all else fails. The only difference is the length of time they stay hot and the sparks till they settle down.

Hi,

We are thinking of purchasing a Cobb………………………but

They do seem a bit small.

We have 2 teenage ( children ), young adults actually, who eat more than I make.

Would a Cobb sustain us ??????, or would we be sneaking about, claming to be checking the anchor, while rummaging for tab-nabs during the wee small hrs?

I think you are correct, they are OK for 2 but a bit on the small side to feed 4 unless you stagger feeding times

We buy a middle size B&Q version barbeque every 3years around autumn time about £60-70. We also use the Greek silver bottle about 25kg last about three months

if used as a normal barby just for two or cook/eat in relays, for use as an oven barby you can cook big joints such as large chickens, beef roasts and leg of lamb including the veggies
so can cater for four
