Apparently you need to be within the UK to use this version of iplayer. That's a shame it sounded interesting.

You can work around that using a proxy, google is your man.

I watched it and it was very interesting. Those were hard times... I can only imagine the feeling among the soldiers on the beach when they saw those little ships coming in and taking them to safety.

Cheers for that Scubaman.....:)

Indeed, a significant historical event. A lot's gone on in that narrow stretch of water over the last thousand years or so.

147 08' E
41 26' S runs straight through my office Kwacka.

The 42 lat. would be Errol Flynns' home town Hobart.

Ricky Pontings from the suburb of Mowbray, which is about 2 kilometres from the Launceston city centre.

The Dutch had a bit of a sniff around the coastline of Western Oz and Tas. 100 years before the English settled.
Strangely enough the French actually had established a whaling station in southern Tas. but weren't quick enough to register the island as a colony.

This was during the Nepoleonic Wars, when strained relationships existed between the two countries.

Are you doing passengers cruises these days Kwacka?
