If you go to BBC news and click weather and enter your postcode you get a forecast for several days ahead. The temperature range in the hour by hour display does not agree with the box above which seems to be showing the max and min temperature for the day. Why is this thus?

Shoddy programming, probably. However, I like the new MeteoGroup weather presentation better than the old Met Office version.

According to the FAQ (https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/about/17185651):

There can be discrepancies seen between the maximum/minimum temperature given for the daily summary and the highest and lowest temperatures seen in the hourly breakdown. This is because the hourly value is given for "on the hour" whereas the max/min may occur between the hourly points so may be slightly higher/lower.

Not a convincing explanation. For my area, the summary's showing min -3 degrees tomorrow, but hourly forecasts include -4 degrees.

Does that really matter? There will be variations across the forecast area anyway.

I have driven from home to work this morning, in a distance of 5 miles the temperature changed by 2 degree C! Should I worry?
