BBC Radio in Europe

I know it is true as I had a drink aboard a fellow Brit's yacht in the Med and he had one. He tuned it in to R4 for the news and the reception was perfect. I am afraid I do not know how or where to get one from. I shall watch this space with interest.

I would also be interested in knowing from users if such a directional antenna is effective in a moving sailboat
Edited by Roberto on 17/12/2003 15:25 (server time).

If you have an internet connection then you can listen to many UK radio stations through your laptop. Do recommend you spend 10 euros or so on a decent set of speakers. We occaisionally listen to our ex "local" Moray Firth Radio and we know of a couple of young ladies down on our pontoon would cant live without the "Archers"!!!!

World space radio is what you want! But it does not have the normal BBC channels. You pick up via Afristar satellite, get lots of channels and BBC World service (Africa). All in digital. Check their webpage www.worldspace.com. Radio costs about £150, a list of suppliers is also on the web page. Super reception! You also get CNN etc. etc....
Another way is get yourselves a decent normal analogue radio with shortwave. In the centre of France all of Holland and Belgium you will pick up Radio 4, probably other BBC channels as well...
