Can you look further down than Egham ?

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't think much happens downstream of Egham

[/ QUOTE ]

Too scary down there - there's a new massif, as you pointed out on another thread. Birchwood and Broom types. Not classic 70s style icon-types. Must have another Staines beer.

Lower Thames starts at Reading, behond Egham there be dragons and strange peeps with funny accents /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Is that Cockernees ?

(As an aside great to see rhyming slang being brought up to date in the new "Minder" - we are indeed all "Crispy Ducked")

Well , thats only recently ..

Used to be Upper , Middle and Lower ...

Lower Thames defined as the tail of Bray Lock to Teddington Lock.

But not any more , now we are West Area and South East Area.

'Crispy Ducked ' ? , i have always know it as ' Donald Ducked ' ..

As in , ' Can you fix those lock gates ? ' - ' No , they're completely Donald ! ' /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Cockernees below Wandworth, its Geezers in between /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

On the subject of the new Minder, watched the first two and thought its was unbearably bad.

I always remember upper and lower Thames starting at Reading because in my rowing days thats how all the clubs above Reading were defined.

Howadays Reading is the point where I have to turn the map over to sea the lower bits, so thats lower Thames /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Far too logical for the EA I reckon.
Isn't the Upper Thames Rowing Club in Henley though?

[/ QUOTE ]

Thats confusing isn't it, think they are originaly the Upper Thames branch of a Putney club where anything above teddington is upper thames, could be wrong though /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I remember when rowing for Wallingford we used to get selected to represent the Upper Thames region at the regional Championships at Nottingham and were competing againest "Lower thames" clubs from Shiplake and Marlow etc...

Itsa shame they didn't catch on the panoramic view from Eton bridge the scrotes emptying their crisp packets on the boats below... and a certain boat retaliating with an infeasibly large water pistol!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
