Oi, your talking about my old mate Mr Newman. I took pictures of all his signs and there were new ones each year. The most complicated ones were for mooring charges, which I never could work out. Mind we never stayed the night.
His pasties and scones are all made by his wife and the best anywhere. I was even honored by being able to tie alongside his trip boat, a heinous crime acording to his signs.
He had a stroke years ago and took a long time coming round.
Yep, normally we'd stop at Mr Newmans for a pint and pasty, then go round the corner to park. The Big ship there was the Tamimima? Owned by John Bamford (JCB) as was the little one next to it. The big one was going to be a museum and the little one was going to do luxury cruises for twelve, round the med. The Tamimima has now gone to India to be scrapped. The little one had belonged to Trinity House and laid buoys.

Thats very sad to hear.

Maybe sad but it happens , with the recession the river will soon be full of laid up shipping again, I can remember as a child the ships laid up four abreast all up through the river as far as Ruan, plus the floating dock just below Malpas.
Just wondering what with the Mussel Farms whether there will be enough room to accomodate them all /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
I have heard the Harbour Authority has had a lot of calls inquiring about lay up rates etc

Inane dialogue. Awful programme. Switched it off

I persevered, mainly because there wasn't one swear word, unlike the two previous filth filled series. But, I did read my newspaper at the same time and looked up during their least self indulged moments.
I assume their 'quests' for rides were arrange well in advance so that Princess could have a fully fuelled, provisioned and skippered boat, along with the helicopter to get the aerial shots.
actually quite enjoyed it. somebody obviously told them to cut the gratuitous childish swearing which helped. They are all still totally unfunny though and its probably best watched with the sound off and just enjoy the pics.
I missed the 'collissions' - what happened?? Agree about the MUTE aspect, nice picture, terrible dialouge. I was hoping for a bit of a history/info lesson on the areas they visited - Anyhow I enjoyed watching it, and will continue to do so.
Yes, it was all pre-arranged and contrived, same as all the Top Gear challenges are, but I thought it was good entertainment. It wasn't supposed to be a documentary about boats.
I was amazed at the number of big Princesses in Mayflower marina, waiting for shipping out to customers. When we were there for a season five years ago, there were never more than two or three. Mind you, they used to have storage for quite a few on their own premises, so maybe they've expanded production facilities, and now use Mayflower for all their storage?
