There is a DVD titled Life on the Deben presented by John McCarthy which does follow from source to the sea which is excellent. Try www.woodbridgeriversidetrust.org.

I will not be pooular for saying this..
But when I look at the banks of the Deben, I see somewhere it would be possible to build lovely homes for people to live in with great views for everyone over the river.
Instead it is "protected" so no one can live there.. but equally no one goes there.. apart from a very privileged few who have the fortune to live there already and the handful of walkers who take the bother to walk along it. In short very few benefit from it.
Meanwhile everyone is forced into anywhere standard boxes which are the proud product of the so called planning system.

The Deben is my home river and I can assure you many benefit and more can if they bother to make the effort.... If the houses you suggest were built they would be bought as second homes by Rich townies which would achieve the exact opposite of your idea...……………. Keep the rich buggers out of Suffolk I say we don't want or need them
You silly boy
Absolutely agree, you silly boy you
Yes well I was very lucky to spend a lot of my youth walking, rowing, sailing those Deben Waters, plus living a while in a remote cottage overlooking the river itself, so please do decline to think of the River as a suitable place for houses to look over, its for Boating Types to look out over the Marshes, inlets, fields, mud, etc etc ; not a view the other way round, eh ?
Build bloody houses nearer Ipswich or Colchester there is not much else there ?
