Neil your comments about the room in the flybridge are encouraging as I need a boat with a decent interior to please the misses and also a usable platform for fishing. I feel that with practice mooring should not be too bad (I hope).
I cannot afford a diesel and understand that this would be the preferred option but sometimes you have to compromise and live with the consequences.
I am grateful to you all for the feedback you gave and I appreciate the comments and criticisms of my proposed purchase.
I am 99% convinced that I will purchase the boat. (the remainder of the 1% is the hope that a similar priced diesel will turn up)

You cant cruise anywhere with a petrol boat, well not without ensuring theres petrol at the other end, mostly there is not. Mostly folk wont be happy with 100 gallons or so in a taxi.

Mind, shortly it probably wont be possible to by diesel most places. Especially round the North West. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Yes this has crossed my mind especially in IOM where it is practically impossible to get petrol on Sundays.
Is there any one out there who uses a petrol powered boat in the North West? How do you cope?

I'd be very wary of the petrol issue, I really would. Two boats ago we had a 23' Maxum and the petrol station was only 1/4 mile from the marina, but it was still a pain. Availability's not so much of an issue on the South Coast (except Weymouth), but many other areas have no waterside petrol. With a 20% safety margin, a 70 gallon tank will still be a dozen jerry cans to hump around.

I can understand peoples comments about the petrol issue, but it would also depend on how much you use/visit the boat. I only live 10 mins from the marina so i pop down most days as i also work shifts, i carry 2 x 20lt jerry cans in the car so if needs be i can fill them each time i pop down there, (even though there is a fuel pontoon on the otherside of the river..I begrudge paying silly prices for petrol). however if like most people you travel a fair distance to your boat then its a different story. i am sure you will find a way around it.

PETROL is also great for boating on a budget, yes it costs an arm and a leg to speed along at 30 mph but at the end of the year you will not have managed to speed along for many hours.

As for cruising I took our 2651 to Paris via the Seine and 110nm channel crossing on a 55gal tank plus aux tank plus jerry cans. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have located a flybrige diesel in the uk and I am going to view this weekend.
All your comments have been appreciated in my quest for the right boat.
I am selling my 1st boat today and looking forward to moving on to bigger and better things.
