Welcome to the world of cheap imports you will probably need a new battery charger and microwave maybe a fridge as well all to do with the sine waves

Why be so negative and what you say isn't true either.

Hobnail - lovely boat I had many great holidays in the UK, France and the channel islands in mine. Congrats on your new acquisition.

My money is on the thermal cutout on the transformer having popped. If not a fuse somewhere in the 110v circuits. Who did the 110/240 conversion for you?

There is by the way a perfect sine wave out of a transformer and all you 110 kit will work just fine. When a bit of 110 kit breaks you can either replace like for like or put 240 kit in and swap the feeds to the other side of the transformer. Don't listen to the doom mongers.

hi elessar

yes i am begining to understand, people who did ce certificate and fitted transformer were gablemarine, the reset switch is on front, thats not tripping out, all appliances did work after work was done, only things now not working is charger to batts, microwave, and also aft bilge auto wire from battery to pump, when i put 7.5 amp fuse in it shows light on all time on dash switch.

but i am looking forward to using boat this year, i think its great boat.
thnx again for ur help..

can someone please tell me on bayliner 288 has trim 2 x trim tabs to engine drive, 1 is marked trailor and other trim drive, says to trailor press both together, would this lift drive clear enough to sit on bottom if tide went out on a mooring/harbour...pat

Shouldn't need to use the 'Trailer' switch unless you're actually loading the boat onto a trailer. It lifts the drive to its maximum, which can put strain on the bellows in the drive.

Your drive should lift clear on its own as your boat settles onto the bottom - they're designed that way.

The bellows are not the issue; it's the universal joints. Tilting the drive too much when the engine is running puts horrible stress on the U/Js ( the input shaft to the outdrive is always turning when the engine is running)

Where is the boat based?

I may be able to help you, if you are Solent based.

Your boat's electrical system is not complex and can be easily converted to 240v without the use of a transformer, except for air conditioning but even then, there are better options than your stock transformer.

For what it is worth, you can find the electrical diagram for a 2006-model 288 here and the diagram you need is on page 63.
