Bayliner 2855 Anchor

I've recently bought a Bayliner 2855 and was looking round her today, as you do, and noticed that the anchor chain and rope come out of the bow storage locker really well but won't go back in! It looks as though the locker is too small, and or I've got too much rope. (I guess around 150')

Has anyone else experienced the same problem and come up with a "fix" ?
I know, shorten the rope!

Well if it was in there and came out it must go back in, suggest you check that it's not just all piling up beneath the opening, spread it around a bit.

Had that one myself. The answer was to poke the pile of rope that forms with a stick while the anchor is coming in. Needs two people, DONT use your hands, if the anchor slips....

and it's not just a bayliner problem!

trouble is whatever the manufacturer thinks you need some people will want to use more, thicker etc!

Use chain. It goes in easier and you dont need nearly as much

I'm with hlb on this one. Same problem on my 2455 so am going over to chain.
