Bay of Biscay crossing vid

A great video and good music. I was impressed by the video quality, what camera did you use and what editing software?

Hey Gerry thanks.

I used two cameras.

For the nice weather shots I used a Nikon D90 Digital SLR, though I actually wasn't overly impressed with it as I noticed horizontal lines especially when panning or when there's a lot of movement. I'm going to buy a normal HD camcorder for the trip as maybe the Nikon doesn't have a very good motion stabiliser for video.

For the other shots I used the GoPro HD Hero2 which I clamped onto the gantry. Its waterproof up to 60m so could handle a few splashes :) It also has a wide angle view, I've attached it to the liferaft on the coach roof before and was really impressed, you'd think the mast would take up the whole screen but it doesn't.

For the video editing I used Adobe Premiere, which takes a bit of time to learn. I can just about manage cutting, fading and overlaying a bit of music, its pretty hungry on the processor. I wanted to do some nice animations on the cartoony slides, which you can do in Adobe after effects, but I didn't have time to learn it.

I used Photoshop for the designs.

I've also heard good things about sony vegas

Hey,

For anyone interested. I've just uploaded the trip from the Canaries to St Lucia with the ARC. We took 25 days to get across, and were the last over the line with just an hour to spare before prize giving.

I took the vid using a simple handheld camera, and took the underwater footage with the GoPro 2 attached to a boat hook. The quality isn't as good, but I think that may be down to youtube.

It's quite a long video but its hard to squeeze 25 days under 10 mis :)

That was really great, I enjoyed it very much.

Underwater Dolphin footage was brilliant.

I liked the closing titles too!
