Almost everyone around this area is charging £1 per tin. Sainsbury's, Tesco, Farm Foods. We have stocked up for the season and will introduce its pleasures to the Greeks.
In my former life as a staff member with the Ocean Youth Trust we knew these as 'Rat Pies'. Kept at the back of a dark locker for dire emergencies. I have never tried cooking these in my Taylors 029 cooker but it does a fine job of heating up a couple of Sainsbury's finest steak pies.
The Greeks already know about the subtle delights of this splendid pastry dish with a variety of fillings and can be bought in any alpha vita for only 5 euros each

And what better scram can you get to settle the stomach after a days toil on the Foaming Briny.

Don't they still make them? Sure I had one onboard last season - boil up for 20 mins or so and fill the cabin with condensation then have indegestion all night.
Nothing like it!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Being married to an Environmental Health officer has its moments. Many moons ago somebody came into the office with a suspect tin of corned beef. On analysis the tuby thing inside the lump of meat was found to be a rats intestine. I've never felt quite the same about the stuff, though i'm sure its OK. She also went round a Hot Dog factory.....we don't eat hot dogs now...recovered meat...Oh dear...
She was having a discussion with a Ham producer at their factory about reports of rats being seen. Having denied they had a rat problem there followed a Monty Python type scene in which a rat nonchalantly chugged across the yard in full view of both of them. "Whats that then" says SWMBO... " I didn't see anything" Says factory manager..and on it went. I'm pleased to say the factory relocated soon after to a nice spanking new clean one, and the old filthy disgusting one was demolished. No rats were available for comment. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
I am never sure whether the regular mention of Frey Bentos pies in these forums is tongue in cheek or not. I think I ate one once - as a student. SWMBO and I are happily married, but if I suggested for one millisecond that I was going to buy, cook and eat one of those things, the divorce courts would rack up another customer.
I'll get off the fence. This talk of actually eating Frey Bentos is a joke right?

I don't think the pastry would crisp up very well...
A biscuit tin will work, but definitely done dry, not steamed. We have a sophisticated biscuit tin, it's two deep frying pans with a hinged joint. We use this as an oven in the camper. Works fine but tricky to control.
