I never cease to be amazed at the stupidy these threads bring out from some contributors.
Pretty dodgy spelling too, from time to time ...
why are the MAB brigade so incensed at people who buy a new AWB and spend their time going sailing that they need to justify their choice of MAB?
Well you see, that's the odd thing. I have never, ever seen owners of older boats get upset about some people choosing modern ones. I'd welcome an example or three of what you mean. What I do see is a lot of modern boat owners - well, Bavaria owners - getting positively hysterical at perceived slights to their prides and joy. The incense, in short, is all on one side and it's not those of us who own 70s and 80s boats!
Likewise designs do progress - again not to everyones taste but try driving a 60's mini and then a new BMW designed one. I know which one I would choose for frequent use!
Yeah, well, that's BMW vs BMC, isn't it? On that scale, Bavaria are probably Hyundai.
Each choice (AWB v MAB) has its merits. Certainly criticise a Bavaria if its design with its many cabins/beam/caravan is not to your personal taste but please stop trying to infer poor build quality when charter fleets use them very heavily with little trouble.
An awful lot more car hire companies seem to offer Fiats and Fords than VWs. What's the average Greek charter daily trip? Someone here was complaining about being expected to do ten miles per day.
