Thanks to those who responded to query- Power for 30 something sports cruisers - now, the question is what plastic to put the twin petrols in? An information on the Bavaria S32 would be appreciated especially on build quality, seaworthiness, handling.

I know someone who has a 29' Bavaria and on the whole he is happy with it. There are a couple of issues, firstly the stainless steel isn't. He's boat is less than a year old and it has rust all over the stainless. Second, all the instructions he was given were in German. Apart from these items he hasn't had too many other problems and is more than happy with the perfomance and handling. Oh, and the tacho's were calibrated wrong, showing about 300rpm to high which resulted in one of the legs exploding, but that's another story!!!

Very good boats, though it may be worth you looking at a used Bavaria 330. A friend of mine has one and it is a much better layout that the 32 or even the 35. I think you can get them up to 2002, but from what I have seen they are pretty good boats.

The 330 has two seperate sleeping cabins, one forward one aft unlike the 32 which has the jump in berth.

I am lucky enough to have tested most of the sports cruisers in this size range as a part of my job, and have driven all of the Bavaria models.
I can honestly say that the handling is very good up there with Windy, it does exactly what you want it to do and is very responsive to the helm and not overly sensitive to trim. The build quality is average, Bavaria use items from Lenco i.e. trim tabs, hatch lifts etc which aren't the best I have seen having had to replace a few, the hull is well built but poorly finished in places, and the engine rooms aren't sound insulated. Also they seem prone to rain ingress, as many customers have complained of water leaks. The helm is adequate, but not the best laid out I have seen, but then thats a matter of personal taste. I liked the electrical panel in the mid cabin with all of the services mounted in one place.
The stainless isn't good quality and often rusts after a short time and some of the fittings i.e. hatch hinges aren't really up to the job.
Its not Windy quality, but then again neither are you paying Windy prices, so its horses for courses.
Think of it as a German would be Bayliner.
